Spring Event Ideas

It’s officially spring! Of course, that doesn’t mean much in Michigan since the occasional flurry has been known to fly as late as May in metro Detroit.  Regardless, spring marks the beginning of our busy season, and the season can serve as inspiration for all types of events, from baby showers to business lunches.

Fresh Florals

Our favorite part of spring is the fresh florals! Of course, flowers are a given for most events, but it’s always better to go local. There are a number of local florists that can put together a stunning arrangement, or head down to Eastern Market if you’re the DIY type.

Pastels

Pastels simply scream spring. Whether it’s in table decor or a step and repeat, pastels can pop up anywhere. This color scheme works even better for a baby shower.

Derby Theme

Nothing marks the start of May more famously than the Kentucky Derby. Should you be hosting an event the first weekend in May, consider this equestrian theme. All the women can wear their best hat or fascinator, and the men can rock their favorite gingham or pastel clothing. You can spruce up the space with horse decor and roses to follow suit. Don’t forget the mint juleps either!

Macarons

Granted, you can have macarons any time of year, but something about these delicate desserts are perfect in the spring. You can generally find them in colors that work with your party’s palette and they even work as a party favor (who doesn’t love desserts to go?).
